TDK (www.tdk-electronics.tdk.com) announced that CeraCharge™ and PowerHap™ were selected as High Performance Passive Components of the Year in 2018. This marks the first time that TDK Electronics in China has won AspenCore World Electronics Achievement Awards (WEAA). The WEAA program honors companies whose innovations and product developments have made special contributions to the electronics industry.
CeraCharge is the world’s first rechargeable solid-state SMD battery. This new technology offers a relatively high energy density and smallest volume combined with the safety and high volume manufacturing benefits of ceramic multilayer components. CeraCharge can be used in a wide range of possible applications – particularly in devices intended for the Internet of Things. These include, for example, real-time clocks, Bluetooth beacons, wearables or systems for energy harvesting.
PowerHap piezo actuators offer an unprecedented quality of haptic feedback based on their unrivalled performance in terms of acceleration, force and response time. Applications can be found, for example, in vehicles, smartphones and tablets, household appliances, ATMs and vending machines, game controllers, industrial equipment and medical devices.
AspenCore, a subsidiary of global volume distributor Arrow Electronics, is the publisher of more than two dozen leading global print and online media, including electronics titles such as EDN, EE Times, ESM China, 21ic.com and Electronic Products. The winners in China were selected by a jury of editors from AspenCore’s trade media in Asia, Europe and the US as well as by readers around the world.
