To support growing Electric Vehicle (EV) production, Keysight Technologies and VISPIRON SYSTEMS have collaborated to offer customers improved battery cell testing capabilities in Germany. Through the partnership, VISPIRON SYSTEMS will open its second state-of-the-art battery lab in Munich, equipped with Keysight technology, improving battery cell performance and development for manufacturers.

As the automotive industry continues to move towards a more environmentally friendly and connected future, manufacturers face the challenge of developing EV batteries that are more durable, have a higher power density, and are safer. One of the most critical aspects in achieving these goals is battery testing at the cell level.

“Customers are looking to produce quality batteries at speed, and this means providing deep and accurate insights,” said Michael Reser, Director EV Segment at Keysight. “We are pleased to partner with VISPIRON SYSTEMS to make this a reality and are excited to see what the future holds for the automotive industry. With this new lab, we will be driving forward our customer’s pioneering technologies and accelerating the expansion of electromobility.”

The focus is on testing the performance and stability of lithium-ion batteries under predefined environmental conditions. The lab will leverage Keysight’s SL1007A Scienlab Battery Test System and will boast 10 cell test benches, enabling manufacturers to simultaneously run customized performance, function, aging, and environmental tests on 480 battery cells.

Keysight’s battery cell test solution is built to offer a wide range of tests and performance evaluations, helping manufacturers speed time to market and support future innovation. By using this technology in the Munich based battery lab, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements can be performed on up to 96 battery cells concurrently.

“With the opening of our second highly innovative battery testing laboratory, we are continuing our strategic course and increasing our previous testing capacities to accelerate our customers’ development of advanced e-mobility solutions,” said Matthias Röhl, CTO of VISPIRON SYSTEMS. “Thanks to our partnership with Keysight, we can provide industry-leading technology for testing and validation.”
