Chargeasap and Navitas Semiconductor announced their partnership to deliver the world’s most powerful gallium nitride (GaN) multi-output fast charger. The Omega 100W 3-output (2x USB-C + 1x USB-A) and the Omega 200W (2x USB-C + 2x USB-A) deliver high-power, fast-charging to multiple mobile devices simultaneously, using Navitas GaNFast™ power ICs.

Measuring only 60 x 55 x 26 mm (86 cc) and only 120 g, the Omega 100W is 30% smaller than a credit card. The powerful Omega 200W is only 88 x 55 x 42 mm (203 cc) and at a featherweight 220 g is 3x smaller, 3x lighter and 3x lower cost than buying separate chargers.

The incredible savings in size and weight are possible thanks to gallium nitride (GaN), a next-generation semiconductor technology that runs up to 20x faster than old, slow silicon chips. Navitas’ GaNFast power ICs monolithically integrate GaN power, GaN analog and GaN logic circuits on the same chip, to enable faster, reliable, efficient operation.

The Omega fast chargers feature two additional design-firsts: a graphene membrane, strategically wrapped around major charger components to ensure cool operation at full power, and a proprietary, patent-pending AC-pin design for the 200W which enables 180° in-line or 90° wall-hugging positioning plus a snag-free fold-flat position.

“For highly-productive and efficient mobile consumers – whether on business travel, commuting or working from home – the Omega series removes the clutter, cost, weight and wait associated with separate, slow, silicon-based chargers,” said Vinson Leow, CEO and founder of Chargeasap.

He added “Partnering with Navitas has enabled us to deliver world-class products that are head and shoulders above any other solution. Now, with the 200W Omega, users can fast charge two 16” MacBook Pros simultaneously and then add two more mobile devices such as phones, tablets, headphones, etc. without the worry of finding more chargers, or more AC outlets.”

“The Omega fast chargers exploit GaNFast’s high-speed, high-efficiency performance in high-frequency, soft-switching power factor correction (PFC) and high-frequency quasi-resonant (HFQR) flyback circuits,” noted Stephen Oliver, Navitas’ Vice-President Marketing and Investor Relations, adding “Working closely with the Chargeasap design and manufacturing teams promotes a ‘first-time-right’ approach which increases confidence in the schedule and brings the Omega into the hands of the backers quickly.”

The 100W and 200W Omega GaN fast chargers are featured via the Kickstarter site, which offers precise technical design and performance details, plus the opportunity to pre-order Omega chargers at ‘backer discounts’ up to 55% off retail pricing. At the time of this release, the Omega project has achieved over $650,000 in backer commitments. The first Omega fast chargers are scheduled to ship in January 2021. www.navitassemi.com
