ROHM has developed the “SDR01 Series” of high anti-surge chip resistors, delivering a class-leading* rated power of 0.33W in the 0402 (1005 Metric) size. Designed for electronic equipment where mounting densities continue to increase, the series is well suited for automotive, industrial, consumer electronics, and AI server applications.

The new products help save board space and reduce component count by enabling replacement of larger-size resistors and consolidation of resistors while maintaining the reliability required of anti-surge chip resistors.

As electronic equipment becomes more highly functional and requires higher power, demand is rising across automotive, industrial, and consumer markets for electronic components that combine compact size with high power handling.

These trends are also increasing the need for smaller high-reliability chip resistors, including anti-surge products. In power supply circuits and around interfaces, resistance to surges and electrostatic discharge (ESD), as well as high-power capability, is required.

To address these needs, ROHM optimized the resistive element and electrode designs of the SDR01 Series. This enables high rated power to be guaranteed in the 0402 size while securing the reliability expected of high anti-surge chip resistors.

The new products guarantee 0.33W up to the rated terminal temperature of Tk=125°C. This makes them easier to use in demanding thermal environments, such as high-density mounting and areas around heat-generating components, helping reduce the thermal design burden.
